RV-6AT Takes Flight!

On Monday, June 19, 2004, the first Innodyn-powered RV-6AT took flight (see video).

Rivers Aeronautical, our Firewall Forward kit partner, purchased an RV-6A with an O-360. After logging a few hours on the airframe, they removed the O-360 and began development of the RV-6 Firewall Forward kit. Upon completion of the mount, cowling, exhaust and instrumentation, a prototype Innodyn Turbine was installed.

Innodyn’s pilot Jon Molek flew for 1.2 hours, after taking off from Rivers Aeronautical’s headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina. This flight, and those that have followed, serve to validate the design of Rivers Aeronautical’s Firewall Forward kit for the RV-6.
